Our Royal Baby Was Born!

The news of the Royal Baby Birth was recently announced and we are all glad to hear the happy news! 

Congratulations!!!

At about the same time, we heard the news of “Our Royal Baby Girl Was Born!”

One of our happy couples wrote to us that their second baby girl was born at about the same time as the Royal Birth.

We are so excited and happy for them!

The father is happy to be a papa of his two daughters. I saw the photo he sent to me in which the outer corner of his eyes is nearly down to the cheeks as he grins with delight while holding his new born baby girl.
He gave us a permission to share his photo.

Moving to New Country is Challenging for Career Focused Spouse

We had two happy couples who got engaged last month. Congratulations to them both! We are very happy for them!


One of the female members who got engaged, is very focused on her career. Japanese men usually prefer to marry a woman who is a housewife type. So, it is not easy for a woman like her who has a successful career to find the right man. In addition, once she meets the ideal man, choosing marriage usually means that she must give up her career when they relocate to her fiancé’s country. 


In this situation, here are two possible solutions:

1. The couple decides to live in his country. She gives up her career in Japan and start a new career in his country. In order to do this, she will most likely need to attend a university to obtain a degree or certificate. 
2. The couple decides to live in Japan. He gives up his career in his country and he starts a new career in Japan. This may mean going to school for training or limits the number of jobs that he can apply for.

Fortunately, they decided to start a new life in Japan. It is still a challenging situation for him since he is looking for a job in Japan.

However, the most important thing is that they support each other and they are so happy being together!

Surrender and the Universe Will Answer Your Desires

We had two happy couples who got engaged last month. Congratulations to them both! We are very happy for them!

One of the male members who got engaged, first became our FULL MEMBER more than three years ago. In the beginning we worked with him in finding his Japanese wife for one year. However, he was not successful. He didn’t renew his membership and he decided to try on his own.

After a year or so, he came back to MJL and told us that he would like to start with us again.

This time he decided to proceed with our service differently. He told us, “The first time I registered with MJL, I was trying to choose a woman. I think that is why it didn’t work for me. This time, I will try to be chosen by one of your female members. Naoko san, please let me know when one of your female members is interested in me!”

I really think that “LETTING YOURSELF BE CHOSEN” is the better way to find your lifelong partner. Unfortunately, most male members follow the opposite way where they try to “CHOOSE THE BEST ONE”, which is not as successful.

He realized that following the western mentality of trying to control the situation made things worse and did not bring about happiness for anyone. After this realization he decided to try the opposite way of “SURRENDERING TO THE UNIVERSE” and asking for assistance from MJL’s matchmaker, Naoko. This instilled his mind with a new outlook with trust and belief in other people and the world that things would work for him this time. And they did! This is the reason he finally found his life partner.

When I visited Japan in March to April this year,

he also came to Japan to meet with her at their first meeting in April.

I remember that right before meeting with her,
he visited our office in Tokyo where he and I talked about their relationship.

At that time, nobody knew that he and she would be engaged so soon.

So I am so surprised that that he and she have already started a new life together!

I am happy to hear that her baby and she are fine.

Congratulations!

As a mother myself, I feel the miracle of a newborn baby.
It is so precious and so special!

She experienced a caesarian operation which is harmful for women. However, she is supposed to go home this Wednesday even though her body has not completely healed.

Regarding baby births, there is a big difference between the US and Japan.

I remember the experience of my baby’s birth in a US hospital. I was kicked out of the hospital two days after his birth even though I had too much pain to walk. The food at the hospital was not so good. It was a cold pizza and weird colored jello. I didn't have any desire to eat this food since I didn't think the food had any nutrition.

In my opinion, the experience of a baby birth in the US forces Japanese women to be tough. Life in the US is a lot tougher than in Japan. Therefore, I have become a tough woman now.

In Japan, a baby birth is more respectful for women. People around a new mom support her with special assistance before and after her baby’s birth.

In Japan, a new mom can stay in the hospital for at least seven days in order to allow time for her body to heal. In the hospital, she is treated as if she were a VIP client in a 5 star hotel, and she is fed a special meal which is designed to give her more nutrition, such as macrobiotics.

After leaving for home with a baby, usually, she stays in her parents’ house for the next couple of months so that she doesn't have to do housework and her parents support their daughter and take care of their grandchild.

I think childbirth in Japan is a better experience since it is one of life’s biggest events and childbirth is very hard for all women. Men may have a hard time understanding how difficult it is.

FYI, Japanese government provides about $4000 when baby is born, and they pay for each child over $100 per month until a child 10^th grade.　This is a Japanese government’s project for halting the declining birthrate.

Luna was lucky that her mom came to the US a few weeks earlier in order to take care of her daughter's first childbirth. Before then Luna was considering having a baby birth in Japan because of the better hospital service in Japan. I think if she prefers, her husband should accept it and think about how she would feel most comfortable spending her pregnancy, childbirth, and post childbirth time.

Anyway, congratulations!

Luna used to be a member of MJL. Through MJL’s service, she found a nice American husband and they got married. And now they made their dream of having a baby come true!


I feel miracles happening all around me. As a matchmaker, I am proud of assisting in the creation of happy families. I enjoy my life’s work. And I believe that this is one of my missions in life which is given by God.

Japanese/American Couples' Marriage Visa Work is Completed and They Will Start a New Life in the US Soon.

I received a message from one of our male clients. His wife is ready to move to the US, so he is going to Japan to pick her up. They will spend Christmas in her hometown with her family. Congratulations! We are happy for them. He used to take part in our Meetup event in Baltimore. I feel like he is our friend. I am looking forward to meeting with them in the US again.

How are you? We are good here and all the paper work for the Marriage Visa is completed. I am just waiting for it to arrive here from Japan so I can take it to the Lawyer and he can send it in to Homeland Security this December before I leave for Japan. Approval is taking between 3 and 6 months and the ones from Japan have been averaging a 3 month approval.

I leave the 13th of December, arrive in Tokyo the 14th. I will spend 2 days there, arrive in Kyoto leave for KYUSHU. I will stay at S san's house, get to drive her car, walk her dog and we will then go to Okinawa for 3 nights before we return to her house. Then I will spend 2 more nights in Tokyo before leaving for home. I am so nervous since S san told me that everyone knows about me and is ok with it but all her Niece's and Nephew's are curious and really want to meet me now when they have Christmas cake on Christmas day since they really do not celebrate Christmas like we do here. That is fine but I am nervous now a lot!!!! In a good way. I am sure I will love them all as my relatives loved S san as soon as they met her in person. Smile.

I hope you will all have a good Holiday and if you would like me to bring something back for you just let me know, it is fine.

I also just want to say to you thanks. Because it was you who suggested I talk with S san when I did not think this was going to work at all after breaking up with A san. You really picked us well with a deep inner sense of knowing the 2 of us and that we would somehow work in the long run. Thanks very much.

One of Our Japanese Female Members Recommends Starting Early to Prepare for the Visa Application Process

One of our female clients wrote to us after coming back from her wonderful holiday with her boyfriend and his family. She brought us fantastic news. “We are engaged!” She has already started her visa work since she would like to be with him and start a new life together as soon as possible. She wants to share with our male clients how difficult it is and how long it takes to obtain a proper visa to enter his country (USA), since many men may not be aware of the visa process. Japanese women are required to obtain a visa in order to stay with their partner or spouse. Here is her message:

I came back from my trip to California to see my boyfriend and his parents.His parents were very nice to me and the Christmas and New Year I spent at his place were unforgettable moments in my life.

And... Guess what!
He finally proposed to me!!!
I was so happy when he handed me an I-129F Form (Form of Petition for Fiancé Visa) with all his information written on it, that I couldn't stop crying for a while...

Yes, the Visa issue!
We've just started to discuss this after I came back.
And what I realized was that we didn't really have any idea how much it will cost and how long it will take to get the Visa!
Well, it was not far from my expectation at all...
Now we are gradually learning. :-)

What a perfect name! It really is a journey!!

We first have to decide which type of Visa to apply for, either a K-1 (Fiancé) Visa or a K-3 (Spouse) Visa.There's also a choice of whether to apply for a Green Card directly after getting married.

It seems like each of the options has both advantages and disadvantages.So, we have to be careful and choose the option that's the most suitable for us. This page compares the options well:http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

Since we cannot be too patient to wait without seeing each other for a whole year, I think we will simply choose to get the K-1 (Fiancé) Visa instead of the K-3 (Spouse) Visa or Green Card.
Although it costs more, we will be able to be together sooner.Still, it looks like it will take more than 5 month to get the K-1 Visa.

We are going to fill in all the forms and collect all the documents we need as soon as possible.
Wow, there are lots of things to do!Hopefully, we can finish the first step of the procedure within a couple of weeks.

I've heard that the rules and the regulations of the Visas are likely to change very often.
So, I'd better keep visiting the official website to look for any changes to the Visa application process. This is the official website: http://ice.gov

Since, I'm already regretting that I should have been more aware of the Visa application process before, I thought that it might be good for you to let your members know that they can start collecting information ahead of time so that they won't have to be separated from their future partner for too long!

I recommend that you take as many pictures of you and your partner as possible in different situations, keep all of the envelopes from postcards and letters, keep all the flight tickets, and other documentation.Taking these simple steps will really help!!!

Wedding in JAPAN

We just announced the news of the engagement of Mr. D and Miss S! We had another client couple who had a wedding ceremony in JAPAN on April 19th.

Congratulations to Mr. R and Miss M!!!

I met Miss M at our office a long time ago. I cannot remember exactly, but most likely at least 5 years have passed since she became a member. She has unique experiences such as working in Africa and a high education background. After returning from Africa, she chose to work in a university at a good position as she attended classes toward her Masters degree at the same time. This meant that she wanted to stay in TOKYO for a couple more years. However, she believed that her future husband was not in Japan. I think mature women like her prefer to meet mature, respectful men. They don’t believe that in JAPAN, it is easy to find a lifelong partner whose level of intelligence is the same as they expected. Anyway, Miss M had been looking for such a man.

I met Mr. R in Baltimore right after I got married and moved here in winter 2007. He drove more than 2 hours to meet me in Baltimore, so that I would be able to introduce him to a wonderful Japanese wife based upon his needs and personality. I felt that he was SERIOUS and intelligent. So I introduced him to Miss M, and they started corresponding. Repeating their visits to Japan and the US, they have been creating a good relationship little by little.

He was very patient, since he had to wait until she got her Masters degree in March 2010. I am glad that he understood that it was very important for Miss M to get her Masters since this will give her more options once she moves to the US. He proposed and she accepted. They have been getting ready for having a marriage ceremony in JAPAN on April 18th.　His parents also traveled to Japan to attend the wedding ceremony. They are very happy, too!!!

Engaged!!!

We have received happy news from our client couple, Mr.D and Miss S. They were engaged last week when Mr. D visited Japan. I remember that he told us that he likes traveling to Japan every year in April to see SAKURA (Cherry Blossomｓ). This year, he gave her an engagement ring under the pink cherry blossom petals showers. They both enjoy Sakura together very much and this year’s will be a wonderful memory! They made their dream come true! Congratulations to you both！

Last June, when we had a Meet Japan Lady Event in Los Angeles, he attended to say hello to us. He just started corresponding with her at that time. She came to our Meet Japan Lady Event in Tokyo in January 2010 to tell us that their relationship is great. So I expected that they were reaching their goal very soon.　In their case, it took about one year’s time to be engaged.

MJL’s Event is not a speed dating or OMIAI party, but both men and women can learn about international communication. And I think it really works for everyone! We will have MJL’s Events the following dates. May 1 in Baltimore, May 30 in Tokyo, June 26 in Los Angeles, and Sept 19 in Baltimore. I hope to see many of our members at our meetups. I talked with Miss S by Skype yesterday to talk to her about starting her visa work. Since I am not an immigration lawyer, I prefer to just share stories of how past successful couples obtained a visa. We also are able to introduce immigration lawyers who can help our couples. It may be hard to believe, but it takes more than 6 months to obtain a fiancé visa just to enter the US. After getting married in the US, with a marriage record, she has to apply for a green card in order to stay in the US. It takes another 6 to 9 months to　receive a green card. So, it can be very demanding work for both men and women to obtain the proper visas. After 911, requirements for visitors and obtaining visas became stricter because the US government became more nervous about foreign immigrants. So, please take care of her with lots of patience on your part for a while and eventually she will be able to come to the US in compliance with the US laws.
