When the First Meeting Goes Awry

One of our female members visited a man in Los Angeles who was introduced to her by a friend of hers. (He is NOT one of our male members.)

After staying at his house for a few days, she was told by him,

“The toilet paper is running out faster after you came to my house.”

“Besides,” he continued,

“There is the Washlet (TOTO), so you do not need to use much toilet paper.”And he continued to lecture her.

She didn’t like him to complain. And, she understood that it is more important for him that she lives frugally with him than creating a positive relationship with her. 

No matter how much toilet paper she used, she didn’t want him to say anything about it since it hurt her feelings.

She shared her story with us after returning from her trip.

“Since I was concerned about his happiness, but I bought an ample amount of consumable supplies, such as toilet paper and toothpaste, and gave them to him before leaving his house.”

Some people would have seen this seemingly unhappy incident as something to be avoided. However, our female member realized that the toilet paper was simply an expression of their incompatibility. Therefore, she had no reason to blame him for what he said to her. So, this experience was fortunate since she was able to realize that they were incompatible before deciding to get married.

Even though he told her, “I like you!”

She honestly realized that he did not care for her.

As a result of this experience, she said good bye to him and moved on to start finding a better relationship.

She met a new gentleman through MJL’s service last December, and she said they are getting along well. He cares for her very much and she feels happy.

We started our work at MJL this year on Monday, January 6^th, 2014.

As you may know, in Japan, New Year’s Day is like the Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays in the US. Many Japanese people take a long vacation, travel abroad, or spend time with their families.

Many Japanese people are shocked to learn that after the New Year’s Eve celebrations, life goes on as ordinary for most Americans.

Anyways, since now is the starting point of the year, you may have made some New Year’s resolutions.
Perhaps, one of your New Year’s Resolutions was…
“I will marry a Japanese woman this year!”

That’s great!

If so, you may have already planned to visit Japan this year.

As part of MJL’s membership program, all of our male members look forward to visiting Japan for their first meeting with our delightful female members. As our service becomes more popular, we had many male members visit our Tokyo office to have meetings with our female members last year. Especially, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve we had a MEETINGS RUSH. We had many meetings every weekend.

In early December, one of our female members met a gentleman from SF in Tokyo. Their meeting was successful and right afterwards he invited her to visit SF. They visited our sister company’s office and invited one of their staff members to lunch.

They look so happy!

Take Action for Positive Change!

Some of our male members say that they are not ready to visit Japan. If it has taken more than 3-6 months since you started communicating with our female member or members, it would be better to plan to visit Japan as soon as possible this year. Otherwise, our female members won’t believe that you are really sincere, and they are likely to move on to another man. Women who are over thirty five years old are especially serious about getting married now. They look for men who are serious and will not wait for men who do not take action for more than a year.

So, if your New Year’s Resolution is to marry a Japanese woman this year, here is our sage advice that will help you fulfill your dream. Find an Honest Japanese Woman

Our family drives to Pennsylvania about every three weeks in order to get fresh spring water. It 
is about a 40 minutes’ drive from Baltimore, and it is great to breathe fresh air and feel peace in rural Pennsylvania.


The owner of the spring provides spring water for free, so many people in the area make special regular trips to fill their water bottles and enjoy the fresh water. The owner also sometimes sells fresh eggs produced by their own chickens.


Yesterday, when we were filling water in our sixteen bottles, a woman rushed in to get a dozen 
eggs. There are no people to collect money for the egg sales, but there is a payment box to 
make a payment. She placed some money into the box and left. I felt happy because she was 
honest.


We have the same system in the countryside in Japan. Farmers sell produce along the street 
without anyone collecting money; there are simply collection boxes. I believe that there is a 
mutual trust between farmers and customers, and it works well, and I am grateful to know that 
there are many honest people on earth.

How Our “Two Weeks Reply Rule” Works - Being Responsible Is Most Important

We appreciate that most of our male and female members are very responsible since they are NOT looking for boyfriends/girlfriends but they are sincerely looking for their lifelong partner.

However, some members do not communicate with us or other members for a long time. This does not create a trusting environment and creates confusion among our other members. We truly need members whose priority is finding their future partner. 

So, we have decided to implement a new rule called “Two Weeks Reply Rule” for all members. 

Here is how it works. If we haven’t received a reply from a member within two weeks, your status will be changed to an “inactive” member, and your profile will be turned off until you contact us. It means that you will not be able to browse our members’ detailed profiles nor communicate with them. However, we are still open to you whenever you have time to talk with us.

Also, if our male members do not reply to a contact request from one of our female members within two weeks, we will automatically send a “decline” reply to her. In addition, your account will be changed to an “inactive” member until you contact us.

We believe that this new “Two Weeks Reply Rule” will create clear communication and fairness for all of our members.

We believe that being responsible is a most important quality in creating a harmonious relationship.

I agree with this study, and have seen the same dynamics play out with men & women who want to meet many candidates, but ultimately cannot make any decision on choosing a partner. And, on the opposite perspective, men & women who want to meet a few nice candidates quickly meet a partner and decide to marry. Romance Scammers

Do you know about the phrase “Romance Scammer”?
They sneak around online dating sites pretending to be a person who is looking for a partner. However, their purpose is not to find sincere love, rather they are looking for money and/or sex. They use somebody else’s photos, and their profiles are all fake.
We have many applications from male members all over the world every day. Unfortunately, some of the applicants are detected as romance scammers. We at MJL place a high priority of having high standards for our members in order to provide our members with a top quality experience with the best results, and to keep everyone safe.

In order to protect our clients, we screen each applicant carefully. This is why some people say that MJL's qualifications are too strict or the documents that MJL requires are too personal. However, we believe that screening our male clients by requiring certain documents is the best way to ascertain who the qualified applicants are and who are not since all transactions are done through the internet.

Fortunately, we have never had any major issues with false identities of our members since we started our matchmaking company in 1999. I think it is because of our unique system where we require male members to visit Japan to meet our female clients for their first meeting. Male members have to spend a lot of time and money for one visit. And usually, one of our staff members attends the meeting. For romance scammers, becoming a member of MJL does not make sense for them since the costs and time involved are too high. 

On the other hand, we require all our female members to visit our Tokyo office before signing up for Full Membership. They come to our office in Tokyo even though they may live as far away as Okinawa or Hokkaido and they have an interview with our staff, and sometimes their conversations last for more than 3 hours! Romance scammers would not make this much effort or take this much risk to visit our office and meet with our staff. Up to this time, we have never had a female applicant romance scammer!

We have heard from some of our male clients of how they were victims of international dating and marriage fraud in other Asian countries when using other dating websites or marriage agencies.

If you google “romance scammer”, you will see examples of these scams. 
One important lesson to keep in mind in order to avoid being scammed is to never send someone money if you have never met them in person. Some people may feel that he or she truly knows or trusts someone after corresponding with him or her through the internet over a long period of time, but you will only really know a person when you actually meet him or her in person.

I hope all people who are looking for their ideal partners are careful for their safety.

Race Across America

My husband and I visited Annapolis 2 weeks ago to meet one of MJL's male clients. There was a special event taking place there called, Race Across America. RAAM www.raceacrossamerica.org/

RAAM is a bicycle race from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD. Total distance is about 3000 miles. What a hard race! Mr. S, our client, has ridden in this race for 10 years. This year he was an official for the race. People from all over the world take part in this race and it is gaining popularity. Perhaps someday it will be as popular as the Tour de France.

It was sunny, peaceful day, and we had a nice talk with Mr.S at the finish line of RAAM.

Sometimes it is nice to meet our clients in person since we can get a good understanding of who they are.

We try to meet our clients both male and female clients when we have time. And I believe that it helps our introduction service more personalized.
